Got Anything to Read?

Haven't been blogging lately. It was too hot to go in the room my computer was in! Been reading instead. Got any suggestions of good books? I prefer novels. Anyone?

Oh...and good news. My camera works again. But I still want a new one.

Have you ever read Christy? I really enjoyed that one. And Stepping Heavenward. I think Martha gave you that one though a few years back if memory serves me...

They're not novels - but great reads all the same:

Help Me Remember, Help Me Forget
It's a true story about a kid whose own father sold him into slavery. It took place in the early 1900's in the states AFTER the Civil War. Apparently many in the south didn't adhere to the law when it came to slavery! Awesome story!!

The Hidden Rainbow
Another true story about a couple from Ugoslavia who converted to Christianity and the persecution the endured as a result.

The Hiding Place
If you haven't read this one - you've probably heard of it... It's about Corrie Ten Boom and how she helped the Jews during WW2 and then also her imprisonment as well as her release. Simply amazing story that I've read numerous times and get so much out of it every time!!

I know I'll think of more later... but I'm off to bed!

G'night!

I love The Hidden Rainbow. Very good book. I think it was written by a girl named Christmas... I thought that was kinda odd, but none-the-less, a very good book to read. Might make you cry.

Thanks! I have read Christy, Stepping Heavenward (2X), and The Hiding Place. Those were great books!

I'll have to try the other 2 books you suggested.

Yup, it was Christmas Carol Kauffman who wrote The Hidden Rainbow.

You can find reviews for both of the other books on Amazon.com.

Happy Reading!

I read another book by Catherine Marshall called Julie. Did you read that one? It is a novel that is based on a true incident which I won't reveal, or it would give away the plot. But take my word for it, it is good.

(I'm a snoop from Taryn's blog)
If you enjoy the style of Jane Austen (Pride & Prejudice, etc.), a similar author that I'm addicted to is Georgette Heyer. These are not religous books, but extremely well-written and entertaining with nothing objectionable. My favorite is Fredericka. Enjoy!

Thanks for all the suggestions. You know, Tracy...I think I did read Julie...but I can't remember what it was about!

Just Passing Through, thanks for commenting. I'll look up the author you mentioned.

I read 2 novels in 4 days this week. Neither of them were Christian novels...but I enjoyed them. One was by Danielle Steele. I had never read anything by her before and I wanted to see what it was like.
