We use (currently) a Nikon Coolpix 3100. It's a 3.1megapix camera, and has all sorts of nifty features.
That said, it's inadequate for really interesting photography. It's good for the little stuff you might want, pics of the kids on a family vacation, that sort of thing, but it's got nothing useful for art-photography, which is where I, and especially Liz, are finding ourselves pulled lately.
We've decided to invest in a new camera, a Canon Rebel XT. Very very shiny, 8megapix SLR digital camera. Ask Melody, she has one. They're a bit pricey (on ebay we're getting a package for $818, but that's really cheap compared to the stores)
There are some nice ones out there now at 4 and 5 megapix that take really nice photos that aren't too expensive - I recommend Nikon or Cannon or Olympus. The one I want at the moment (since Liz is the main photographer in the family, she gets the Rebel XT) is an Olympus Stylus 720SW. It's got the added benefit of being shock- and water-resistant.
We have an Olympus that has C-750 Ultra Zoom written on the front. (It also says Olympus Camedia.) I know James paid quite a bit for it. I think he may have bought it online but I'm not sure.
So what is your overall review of the camera, Mart. It sounds like a good one.
Chris, Thanks for the info you sent. Whoa! That camera Melody has sounds awesome...but a bit our of my league I think. I need to be a bit more practical in my choice.
Jamie says you scuba dive...so it makes sense that you would pick the one you like. I want a little more optical zoom than that one has however. I don't really think I need a water resistent one. lol! What happened to my camera isn't typical of the treatment my cameras generally go through.
The olympus is more for sporting stuff than scuba diving ... it wouldn't be resistant at the depths I'd be diving, it's only resistant for maybe snorkeling.
Don't go Kodak, I've heard some iffy things about their "easy-share" technology, though the docking-bay thing is a good idea.
I have the Digital Rebel. Which is basically the Rebel XT that Chris mentioned only the older version. So, I know you aren't interested in that one. :) But as you know I LOVE MY CAMERA!
My girls both have an easy share (not sure of their models) and they love theirs. Good cameras for the $. 6.1 mega pixels too!
You can't go wrong with Canon or Nikon though. They make good stuff.
I actually would never recommend buying a camera online. I know you can get a good deal and all and save some dollars. But we did that and regretted it cuz we couldn't get the service we needed when my camera had problems. Next time around I will pay the extra dollars and save myself that headache!!
My friend Brian has one that takes a regular lens on it. Very cool. I'm afraid I don't know much about digital cameras, so I'm pretty worthless in this conversation.

We have one from Kodak. I like it and it works good too.
Martha, Is this your camera?

Priscilla, yes, that is the camera we have and we do like it but I'm not sure how to use all the special stuff. Gotta read the manual, I guess.

I don't have one! I have to borrow mom's. I'd kind of like my own so mom would stop deleting all my pictures.
