Team-work

How do you solve a problem like a game piece being stuck in a very high tree during a family picnic?

It takes team-work and...
a very brave soul.
Quick update on my life: My summer job is going great. I find teenagers to be very amusing...although they can be frustrating at times. Still looking for a job. Keep me in your prayers, especially seeing that I have an interview on Thursday.

But then again...Simon says, "Maybe not!"

July 4th picnic

It was a good day for a 4th of July picnic at my sister's house in Webster. A little different from our usual custom of heading down to my uncle's in Penn Yan. He is not feeling well since recovering from pneumonia. He's in the hospital again from what I hear.
Anyway...the young people piled into the pool and made huge splashing waves.
Later on during the calm...my daughter Alicia ventured in. Here are my girls with my terrific husband.
Lucas wanted to climb all over Alicia.
Josh loves the water. Several people took turns taking him in the pool. He has no fear of the water and I think he'll be a good swimmer some day. He even asked his uncle to throw him in. His uncle Dave obliged and his daddy caught him. He's only 2.
Here's Lucas. He's a cutie...but has quite a little temper and a strong will. He actually reminds me of his father when he was his age! Dave turned out to be a fine adult in the long run and I'm sure Lucas will be too. He has good parents!
Here is Martha and the other uncle Dave on the picnic blanket. Later on we returned home. None of our kids wanted to go see the fireworks. The girls had seen fireworks the night before in Geneva. Jamie and I walked down with the dog and saw them from the pier. It was a beautiful night. I didn't get pictures but my blog friend Katya did. She and I have never met face to face but sometimes I see from our posts that we come close to it at times.

Memorial Day Picnic

This year's Memorial Day has come and gone...but I'm blogging about it anyway. We went up to Cicero to have a picnic at the home of Ben and Sarah. Sarah is Jamie's niece. B & S just got married last July and were anxious to host a picnic at their new house-purchased in October. My contribution to the picnic was strawberry pretzel salad. Jamie had told me not to make it since it was going to be a sweltering day and it would just melt into a mess. *sigh* My husband has little faith in me sometimes. I made it anyway, kept it nice and cold on a bed of ice in a cooler, and it turned out just fine!
The kids were able to keep cool in the pool.

I'm not sure what game Audra is playing here...but she looks like she is having fun. I think her Uncle Kevin was squirting water at her and she was catching the water as it fell.Laurie and I kept cool by sitting on the edge and dangling our legs in. I hadn't brought a suit and rather regretted it. Oh well!
Allen was in the pool too but got out to enjoy a game of ladders. He looks on...
as his partner, Ben takes the shot.
They were playing against Jamie and Kevin. I'm not sure who won in the end.
