I'm a grad student

I have started grad work this week. So far, so good. I really like the people I've met. I like my professor. He is teaching both of the classes that I am taking. In fact it is almost the same exact students in the 2 classes. We all go to one class, go out to eat together and then come back to the 2nd class. Almost all of us are new students. Several of us commute from Rochester. Three of us are carpooling together. I am definitely an older student...but luckily not alone. There is another girl my age. She's one of my carpooling buddies.

My professor is very entertaining to listen to. I'm glad because it would be a much loooonnnnggggerrrr day if he wasn't. University of Buffalo is very close to the Canadian border. My professor actually lives in Canada and just commutes every day to the USA where his job is. I think that's interesting.

Right now I am working on wrapping my brain around a whole new language of librarianship. There are a lot of unfamiliar words to learn and understand. I've been reading a lot and need to visit a variety of different libraries and talk to librarians. Then I need to write a 5 page paper on something. (to be determined)

Thanks for keeping us posted. I have been wondering how it is going. That is so exciting! I am glad the professor is good. How far is your commute?

Don't we look studious in our glasses and nightgowns?

Does your professor live in Fort Erie? Maybe he knows where Teal Rd is...

My commute is an hour and a half one way.

I'm glad you're enjoying it so far. It's always nice to have some carpooling buddies to share the cost of the commute, as well as for some company.

Glad you're liking it! Has the subject been determined yet? Can it be on any random topic?

that is so cool that you are actually doing 'it'....going to school again.
It sounds all good!
The photo of you girls is precious.
How is the washer?
Thanks for your visit on my blogs and comments. I am glad you told me the flower's name.

Bethany,
I have some general guidelines about what the paper will be...but the subject must be determined by me. I think I have another paper to write too...but he hasn't talked about it yet.

Gudl, the washer is great!

Good for you!

I like the photo - I assume it is you.

And I like the blues of your blog.

The girl on the left is Martha. I'm on the right. My parents took the picture because I wanted glasses like my big sister. I was wearing plastic sunglasses with the lenses poked out. I had put them on upside down.

I still get goose-bumpy when I read your posts about grad school. I am not kidding, I get goose bumps. It is the most exciting thing I have heard out of upstate, well, someone going overseas on a mission is pretty cool too. I'm sure both events will have a profound impact on other's lives. Proud to know you.

Thank you, Judi and everyone else for your encouraging words.
