Animals at the GCM

Thought I'd post a few more pictures from the Genesee Country Museum. We have the Gander family.

Mrs. Henny Penny.

And the twins. One big happy farm family. There were also pigs, but the pictures of them turned out too dark.

Very nice! Like in the old days.
Actually, almost like on our farm ;-)

I kind of miss those ducks that wandered around here that one summer.

I do love to 'romanticize' those times.... but I will spare you the conversation that Martha and I had earlier today 'bout them and why I really would NOT want to live back then. LOL.

And Martha, - They were the funniest ducks! Laughed at me everytime I came over.

Those cows are beautiful. I don't think that type is very common in Oregon.

Did anyone watch that show on PBS a few years ago where three families signed up to live the homestead lifestyle for ? months? (don't remember how long it was, but it was through the winter). It was fascinating. And one of the things that stood out to me was that the men all reflected on the experience positively, while the women did not. The men had been building things, growing things and had a satisfaction of seeing the fruit of their hard work. The women had spent the time with unending drudgery of cleaning, cooking and tending their families with no modern conveniences. Very different experiences.

I recall hearing about it but didn't see the program. Sounds interesting.
