Since it appears to be laying on the side walk (or concrete) I would assume it to be rather small. That would rule out "hoof", "melon rind", "jawbone", "banana peel" and "horn of a long horned cow". Could be insect parts... think small...
Yes, small and from some place sandy. If you look closely you can see the sand grains sticking to the feathery things on the inside of the curve. Looks like horn, feathery side, sand, some part of a horse shoe crab?
