My children also love ice-scating, but there is no course here. Meine Kinder mögen Eislaufen, aber wir haben hier keine Eisbahn. Du kannst das Teelicht auch aufhängen. The tea-light: You can hang it up, too.
Heather is always begging to go... She got ice skates a few years ago for her birthday and I think the only times she's used them is when Martha took her. Poor kid - got stuck with a mother that just HATES anything to do with cold.
Remember when kids learned to skate by borrowing skates the neighbor kids had out grown? We didn't have any helmets to protect our skulls and the only thing holding us up was possibly the neighbor kid who gave us the skates. (At least that's how it worked for me.) Oh yeah, and we skated OUTSIDE!
Yes, Mart. I remember very well. And if we fell, we simply got up and tried again. It seemed like everyone had a pair of skates and we went all the time...for free! Now...rarely do people actually have their own, you can't find an outdoor rink anywhere and it costs a small fortune to go to an indoor one (so it's rare that you do). Consequently, my kids don't skate as well as we did and...they whine.
In all fairness, Audra was hurt pretty badly. She's my most adventurous one. Ended up with a nasty bruise on her leg. ouch!
Tracy, the rink has those things on hand for kids who are learning. Alicia had never gone before. She had to have a helmet on to be allowed to us this. The other kids didn't wear them.
We took our boys once a couple years ago. Michael hated it and preferred to sit on the bleachers and watch. He is the perfectionist in the family and feels if he can't do something great the first time, then he doesn't want to do it at all. Steven thought it was okay, but wasn't thrilled with it. Needless to say, it wasn't worth the money.
I loved going to the playground or the school and skating when we were kids. We always returned home half frozen, but it was FUN!
I used to own my own ice skates. I was never very good, but it was fun to have my own pair. never skated outdoors. There are two rinks located in shopping malls in Portland.
I haven't been skating in a few years. I am not good at it. My family used to go a lot when we were kids (outdoors, for free). My parents were pretty good at it.

Plätzchen- sit down and eat one. They good for you right now.
Is that "walker" like device something the ice rink rents out? I've never seen such a contraption. Is it just so little kids feel more stable?
I haven't been ice skating in a very long time. But I have been watching ice skating competition lately on TV! :o)

Hockey pucks! Oooo, they were as nasty as the boys who hit them at us!
yeah! That's one good thing about skating now. We never encounter that problem.
